Tuto with Peter Carl MON 14/02

PC:  yes micro economies, swapping services, rather than earning money and swapping money.
(bus tickets example)

- find out about the temperature altitudes during the day! does the temperature drop at night?
If the humidity is great, as it is in Houston for example, the temperature difference between day and
night is not very big and therefore only a type of natural ventilation can be used (find out bara!)

- winds

- bricks - example - spanish shoe factory (example of catalan vaults, clouds of thin bricks, self-supporting)

Amat y Jover: Textile Factory

- Salt Cedar - find out the sizes and the usability as building material!
small trees can be used as building material - engineered wood - small pieces glued together.
look at Unit 4 at Lon Met, which is what these guys are doing (also in their UFO office).
Manufacturing small pieces that can be cut by machines and compiled into greater thing, manufacturing everysingle piece different in these days is perhaps as complicated as manufacturing every brick the same as the previous one)
there was a great discussion about this at Texas A&M when we were there, please comment :) !!!
that would be great.

- roof cooling, orientation, shade

- talk to environmental specialist! Max Fordham
understand the climate first
max: use the least kit possible

- look at Kentucky tobacco barns - drying tobacco (=drying bricks?)

- the examples of factories I have below are for fired bricks - different technique - spatial requirement for unfired bricks are different!

- do find out about using steel water towers as superstructure from the structural engineers.
